As a key leader within Fortescue’s Asset Management & Engineering team, you will ensure that Fortescue’s assets are managed to the optimal cost, performance and risk outcomes over their lifecycle, throughout the whole of the metals business.

You will lead a team of principals, superintendents, technical equipment Subject Matter Experts (SME) and asset management professionals that provide technical direction and support, continuous improvement, and assurance functions to both site based and central teams.

You will utilise your strong interpersonal and communication skills to develop your team’s skills and culture, and to build relationships with engineering and maintenance leadership across operations that enable you to deliver best-for-business outcomes across Fortescue’s asset base.

As Fortescue looks to reach real zero carbon emissions by 2030, you will play an important part supporting the teams and initiatives for the new green assets as they enter the business.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Own accountability for delivery of the team’s objectives as defined within the Asset Management & Engineering business plan.
- Developing and implementing business-wide improvement strategies to optimise the reliability, efficiency, and safety of Fortescue assets.
- Engage and maintain strong relationships with site engineering and maintenance leadership to ensure alignment of priorities and activities.
- Manage the asset reliability team in delivery of routine functions:

- Define, develop, and deliver engineering solutions to optimise whole of life cost and asset performance.
- Provide technical expertise to support the business in resolution of challenging faults and issues.
- Assist site operational teams in recovery and investigation of major downtime events.
- Develop whole of life asset management plans.
- Explore process, equipment, and engineering opportunities to reduce risk exposures.
- Provide ongoing technical support to Projects, Operational Readiness, Procurement (tender request, evaluation, contract management) and Offsite repair teams.
- Promote learnings and improvements across sites through facilitation of relevant cross-site equipment forums and implementation of best practices.
- Develop and manage the centrally coordinated technical training program (equipment technical training and asset management processes)
- Maintaining visibility of upcoming challenges to prepare our assets and people for the future.
- Lead several asset management processes, including Defect Elimination and Maintenance Strategies management.
- Driving a culture of safety, excellence, and innovation within the asset performance team and across the sites
- Actively supporting the decarbonisation team as well as driving various decarbonisation initiatives to ensure Fortescue achieves real zero carbon emissions by 2030

**Qualifications and Experience**:

- Bachelor degree in Engineering
- Extensive experience (10+ years) in the mining or heavy industry sector
- Proven leadership and people management skills (7+ years), with the ability to coach, mentor and develop teams.
- Experience in engineering, maintenance and/or reliability roles is essential, with on-site operational experience highly beneficial.
- Asset Management experience is highly beneficial.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use data and systems to drive decision making and improvement.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
