What your day will look like....
As an Independent Patient Rights Advisor at Darling Downs Health, you will be actively involved in advocating for patient rights and ensuring they are fully informed about their responsibilities and options under the Mental Health Act 2016. Your role will have you guiding patients, their families, and support persons in communicating their preferences and navigating their care. You'll work closely with community visitors, mental health practitioners, and administrators to address patient rights and legal matters. You'll also prepare patients and their support networks for Mental Health Review Tribunal hearings and collaborate with personal guardians or attorneys when needed. Additionally, you'll coordinate with other advisors and the Statewide Coordinator to ensure consistent, high-quality support across the South West Hospital and Health Service, all while embodying Darling Downs Health's values in every interaction.
