**Why This Role Matters**:
The Project Officer is required to coordinate BARC’s project, Transforming Trauma (a Medical Research Future Fund [MRFF] Indigenous award project) focused on creative development of Virtual Reality tools for working with trauma in First Nations communities. This project is based at UNSW but entails collaboration with remote and regional communities across NSW, QLD, WA and NT.
The Project Officer will be responsible for project coordination, reporting, budget and analytical support, communications and events management, relationship management, and overarching administrative support for the project. The role requires project coordination and interpersonal skills, including experience working with trauma/Aboriginal communities.
**Accountabilities**:

- Coordinate the delivery of the project/sub projects by providing proactive support in:
- Developing project plans and schedules and participating in planning processes as required.
- Monitoring, tracking and reporting on the status of project deliverables to ensure time, cost and quality metrics are in line with approved project plans for assigned projects.
- Assessing and monitoring project risks and issues and providing solutions where applicable.
- Provide a range of administrative support to the project including:
- Review and monitor finance administration requests, including but not limited to, purchasing, travel, expense reimbursements, payment requests and billing processes.
- Develop and maintain detailed filing systems and other administrative systems as needed.
- Manage and prepare a range of communication and reporting materials, including newsletters, reports, marketing and promotional material.
- Organise meetings as required.
- Any other day to day management, including IT, ordering, HR, and other support as required.

- Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
- Project management experience, with a demonstrated understanding of the project life cycle and development of project plans, objectives and documentation.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work in a multidisciplinary creative team and with stakeholders with lived experience of trauma, mental health.
- Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced.
- Demonstrated experience providing effective customer service and support to clients at all levels.
