**Role**:
This role will involve working as an educational interpreter (AUSLAN) in a mainstream classroom along-side the classroom teacher, to support a deaf student. All teachers at our school are Level 1 trained in Victorian AUSLAN, and AUSLAN is our additional language. This is a full-time position from 9:00am - 3:30pm, including a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.

Positions at this range involve tasks that are carried out in accordance with guidelines, accepted practice and school policy. Supervision and coordination of other staff involves ensuring that routine tasks are performed to the required standard.

Specialised support functions will involve accountability for a single function or the operation of a work area. Technical support will involve ensuring clearly defined technical requirements are met (for example, technical support to teachers within a school laboratory). Direction is readily available and the scope for decision making is limited to how required tasks are met.

A role at this range may include:

- provide coordinated support to teachers and educational programs
- provide a child safe environment in accordance with the Child Safe Standards
- coordinate the day to day routine operational requirements of a school office
- provide medical intervention support to a student(s)
- support financial and budgetary processes
- coordinate and prepare routine school communication
- manipulate data or information and prepare documentation or basic reports
- use specialised knowledge in a specific functional area including risk assessment, for example, science laboratory, information technology support or library
- provide training and,or instruction with respect to technical systems or scientific processes, and
- prepare experiments or use of equipment and conducts demonstrations, where required, under direct supervision

**Responsibilities**:

- Educational interpreter - AUSLAN
- Provides routine support for teachers including assisting with planning of student routines
- Communicates with teachers on routine matters related to students and/or other responsibilities
- Communicates with student/s to support comprehension of basic tasks and information
- Provides basic support and supervision for individuals or small groups of students within a classroom setting
- Provides specialised communication support for students and teachers in AUSLAN
- Addresses immediate behavioural presentations relating to specific students within a classroom setting aligned to school policy and procedure
- Provides medical intervention support to student/s, under specific conditions, with appropriate training and guidance
