**Position Information**:
Berkeley Vale Public School prides itself on maintaining an excellent reputation within the local and broader community. The school pays respect to all Aboriginal people and acknowledge that we are on Darkinjung land. The school is a proud partner of Tuggerah Lakes Learning Community (TLLC), Central Coast. Strong alliances with the University of Newcastle and the Kuriwa Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG) are also established.
The current student enrolment is 585 students, with 12.5% acknowledging Aboriginality and 7% English as an Additional Language (EALD). There are 24 classrooms, and 60 staff ranging from new graduates to more experienced staff, with 15 ancillary and support staff working as a team to provide educational excellence.
The P&C are a supportive community group of parents and carers who ensure timely resourcing and support is provided to enhance the learning opportunities for all.
Students are actively encouraged and supported to participate in a diverse range of learning experiences and opportunities. These include student leadership programs, school and Koori choir groups, Dhinewan mentoring program, dance groups, Premier's Reading and Sporting Challenges, Premier's Spelling Bee, debating, public speaking and a wide range of sporting activities.
Student voice is highly valued at Berkeley Vale Public School and our K-6 students will continue to be offered opportunities to build their individual leadership capacity.
**Selection Criteria**:
In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary, along with a proven capacity to work as part of the executive team and effectively balance the dual roles of exemplary classroom teacher with the complex responsibilities of a leadership role.
Evidence of instructional leadership to inspire and mentor teachers in the implementation of high quality, evidence based and differentiated literacy and numeracy programs, resulting in improved student learning outcomes.
Demonstrated experience in leading and enhancing student wellbeing initiatives and practices promoting an inclusive and culturally safe learning environment that inspires and motivates students to improve every day.
An approachable and visible leader, with outstanding organisation, communication and interpersonal skills who fosters collaboration to build positive, authentic relationships with the whole school community.
**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
- 2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs- 3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams- 4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents- 5.
