Position Information:

Morisset Public School is situated on the south-west side of Lake Macquarie.

We are a proud member of the Western Shores Learning Alliance, which is in partnership with 4 primary schools and Morisset High School.

Morisset Public School has a total of 165 enrolments for % of students identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and 14% are from language backgrounds other than English.


We have strong parent and community involvement in school events and whole school student initiatives and an active P&C and local Itji-Marru AECG working to improve the school learning environment for all stakeholders.

There is a continued emphasis on embedding quality teaching practices in literacy and numeracy.

High impact teaching strategies provide opportunities to enhance teacher practice and ensure students achieve expected growth and attainment in their learning achieved through highly effective self-directed learning opportunities for all students.

Our work with individual students is responsive and closely monitored. Individual and targeted support is provided and structures are in place to identify students who need intervention and extension.


The wellbeing and engagement of our students remains a priority - embedding You Can Do it principles and positive expectations across the seven classes.

Dedicated staff teams focus on improving student outcomes in literacy and numeracy, behaviour and inclusion.

A strong leadership team comprising Principal, AP (Wellbeing and Inclusion), AP (Curriculum and Instruction), LaST, Chaplain and Counsellor lead curriculum and wellbeing programs across the whole school community.


Selection Criteria:


In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary, a demonstrated ability to balance the dual role of exemplary classroom teaching practice with the complexities of a leadership role.

Demonstrated expertise in effective data analysis and use of data with a strong understanding of evidence-based approaches to improve literacy and numeracy student outcomes.


Proven ability to lead whole school wellbeing and cultural programs, engaging with all stakeholders, to enable every student to connect, succeed and thrive.


Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with a proven capacity to lead whole school initiatives and build strong collaborative relationships with staff, students, parents and the wider community.


General Selection Criteria:

  • Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
  • 2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs 3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams 4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents 5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning 6.
Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
