As the Emergency Department Communications Clerk, you will provide a central communication role for the Emergency Department, through the operation of the Departmental telephone system and overhead communication system. You will assist Medical and Nursing staff to ensure the smooth functioning of the Department by performing a discrete group of administrative duties and provide a customer focused service, by directing all enquiries to the appropriate staff member, patient, relative or carer as appropriate.

To be successful in this role, you will need the ability to deal with members of the public and respond empathetically to a range of difficult needs and priorities, the ability to work under pressure and prioritise work to meet deadlines as well as coping with a fluctuating, workload, a high standard of written and oral communication skills, including proficient use of a computer and telephone systems and and understanding of, and commitment to, patient confidentiality requirements.
