The Australian National Centre for Ocean Resources and Security (ANCORS) Ocean Nexus Program at the University of Wollongong is recruiting an innovative post-doc researcher to undertake research into equity and transboundary fisheries governance, focusing on tuna fisheries in the Indo-Pacific region. The post-doc researcher will research and support the development of new approaches to fisheries governance and international cooperation that contribute to equitable and sustainable outcomes for developing States. The position is multi-disciplinary and will consider applicants from a range of related fields, including law, policy, social sciences and economics. Applicants from Indo-Pacific small island developing States are particularly encouraged to apply, as are those with experience in international negotiations, government, industry and sustainable development.

The ANCORS Ocean Nexus program is an interdisciplinary research program that addresses key challenges to achieving equitable outcomes in transboundary ocean conservation, governance and development. The post-doc position is funded by the Nippon Foundation Ocean Nexus Centre and located in Wollongong at ANCORS. ANCORS is Australia’s only multi-disciplinary university-based centre dedicated to research, policy advice and education on ocean law, marine resource management and conservation, and maritime security and cooperation. Our Ocean Nexus program studies how we manage human interaction with our marine environment, and develops innovative solutions to manage our activities and impacts. Communication and engagement are key components of our research. Our applied research engages with communities, analyses key problems, and creates new solutions that deliver real outcomes with tangible impacts.
