**Housing Officer (Aboriginal Identified)**

Bungree Aboriginal Association is an Aboriginal Community based organisation which provides a wide range of services to help Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. As the largest Aboriginal not for profit organisation on the Central Coast, Bungree is a multi-service organisation delivering programs and services to the Central Coast, as well as parts of Newcastle and the Upper Hunter in New South Wales.

As one of the largest Aboriginal providers of housing on the Central Coast, Bungree has been providing social and affordable housing since 1995 as a registered Aboriginal Community Housing Provider with NSW Aboriginal Housing Office. Since 2015, Bungree has been registered Community Housing Provider under the National Regulatory System - Community Housing as a Tier 2 provider.
Our mission is to provide secure and affordable housing to the Aboriginal communities. We also support youth and families who reside on the Central Coast or are in transit and are homeless or at risk of being homeless in accessing services such as crisis accommodation, health, or advocacy services.
Bungree owns and manages properties through the Central Coast, Newcastle, Lake Macquarrie, Cessnock, Maitland and Karuah local government areas for the NSW Aboriginal Housing Office, NSW Land and Housing Corporation and Karuah Local Aboriginal Land Council.

**The Opportunity**:
The Housing Officer is responsible for supporting our families with their housing needs and assisting tenants to maintain their tenancy. The position will deliver high-quality tenancy and property management, ensuring relevant legislation, regulations, organisational policies, and procedures are followed.
Key Objectives include:

- Deliver support services through effective partnerships to tenants who need them in a timely, compassionate, and professional manner.
- Ensure the timely, accurate, and efficient operation of rental collection and arrears recovery systems.
- Conduct condition inspections and reports, tenancy sign up, entry procedures, lease and rent reviews, and exit procedures.
- Liaise with Housing Maintenance in relation to tenanted and vacated property maintenance.
- Make welfare phone calls with Participants, following up with Participant issues, requests, concerns, and queries.
- Participate in professional supervision.
- Alignment with Bungree values of Respect, Trust, Leadership, Excellence.

There is an expectation that you will comply with any reasonable health and safety policy or procedure and participate in meetings, training, and other relevant activities.

**About You**:
You will have demonstrated experience in community housing sector and/or property real estate delivering outcomes-based services that have consistently achieved performance targets. You will have an understanding of and sensitivity to homelessness issues. Your strong attention to detail and passion for providing quality customer service will be required in this role. You will be a professional with good communication and time management skills who strives to provide high quality, person-centred, equitable and accessible support for people in the program.

**Essential Requirements**:

- Confirmation of Aboriginality (Aboriginal Designated position under section 14 of the NSW Anti-discrimination Act 1977)
- Qualification/s in relevant discipline: property management, community services, social work or another related field or significant career experiences and a willingness to gain qualifications.
- Willingness to learn the NSW Residential Tenancy Act and an understanding of Aboriginal community housing.
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft skills.

- Working with Children’s Check.
- Valid Driver’s Licence.

**Desirable Criteria**
- Knowledge of tenancy management practices, procedures, and tenancy agreements.
- Sound knowledge of the Homelessness Sector.
- Experience working with vulnerable and disadvantage community.
