**About the Division**:
The Oil and Gas Division is an integral part of the ongoing energy transition-in Australia, Asia and globally. The teams work on a wide variety of onshore and offshore resources issues including policy and regulatory functions, developing and interpreting legislation and program delivery.

**The Branches**:
The Gas Branch advises Government on gas supply policy in the context of the Government’s long‑term goals of energy transition to net zero. The Branch is responsible for managing the implementation of the Future Gas Strategy, which outlines a pathway for Australia to manage its evolving role as a trusted gas producer and as a responsible climate actor which acts with transparency, integrity, and from a strong evidence base.
The Offshore Strategy Branch is responsible for providing policy and advice to support the safe and responsible regulation of Australia’s offshore oil and gas resources. The branch is leading a review of the offshore environmental management regime to ensure it is fit for purpose in a decarbonising economy and reflects best practice for offshore environmental management.
The Offshore Resources Branch delivers and implements policies and activities consistent with relevant legislation to contribute to the Division's objective of supporting our transition to net zero, balancing Australia's social, economic, and environmental outcomes. The Branch advises and supports government on matters relating to offshore greenhouse gas storage, petroleum exploration and production project and LNG.
What we are looking for in an ideal Legislative Manager:
- Has the ability to resolve complex, sensitive regulatory, legal and policy issues.
- Has high level analytical skills to develop and interpret legislative and regulatory frameworks.
- Is adaptable, resilient, and able to deal with uncertainty.
- Can manage competing priorities to deliver regulatory and legislative reforms within set timeframes.
- Comfortable making decisions and providing impartial and forthright advice based on sound judgement, with an awareness of the broader environment.
- Has exceptional written and verbal communication skills and can negotiate persuasively.
- Demonstrates effective stakeholder engagement skills, including working with the Minister’s Office, internal and external stakeholders, and States and Territories.
What we are looking for in a Policy Manager:
- Needs to communicate clearly, persuasively, and convey information in a way that is tailored to the audience.
- Demonstrate sound decision-making and judgement to provide advice and deliver results that contribute to strategic priorities.
- Experience with or the ability to interpret and deliver complex policy and/or legislative work.
- The capability to be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with a network of key internal and external stakeholders.
- Has an excellent understanding of government process, including experience with briefings, cabinet submissions, budgetary processes & new policy proposals.
- Leading public consultation processes on policy reform options.
What we are looking for in a Titles Manager:
- Demonstrates capabilities to manager complex real-world issues, including providing evidence-based advice through information and data analysis from a range of sources to provide clear and influential advice.
- Have experience with or knowledge of Australia’s offshore resources regulatory regime and an understanding of titles management.
