**The Opportunity**

Council's Young Communities services unit is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated person to optimise the wellbeing and resilience of young people aged 12 - 25 years and their families through the identification, design, establishment, and delivery of inclusive, adaptable, and accessible programs.

This roll will be responsible for developing, delivering and evaluating a range of educational, recreational and youth consultation programs targeted at young people, in response to identified needs within the municipality.

Reporting to the Team Leader Development and Support, you will provide information, support and referral services to young people, their families and support networks, whilst facilitating fun and engaging programs.

This position requires ‘out of hours’ work including participation in evening and weekend work.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Engage and work with young people that may require further short-term assistance and support.
- Establishing and maximising relationships with organisations to improve outcomes for young people and advocate for their needs.
- Plan, develop, implement and evaluate a range of youth programs, services and events that address the needs of young people within the municipality.
- Contribute towards the development of policy, procedures and strategies to ensure the needs of young people are reflected.
- Develop promotional strategies ensuring that programs, services and events are well publicised across the municipality.

**_To be successful in this role you will have the following:_**
- Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Youth Work, Community Development and Welfare or a related discipline with some experience.
- Experience in working with young people and their families within a broader community context, that is inclusive of all community members.
- Knowledge of the range of services available for young people including accommodation, counselling, family support, legal, employment, drug and alcohol.
- A strong understanding of current issues in provision of services to young people is desirable.
- Current valid Victorian Driver’s Licence and Employee Working with Children Check.
