**About Us**
The Environment Protection Authority (EPA) is South Australia’s independent environment protection regulator. The organisation works to protect, restore and improve the environment through the risk-based regulation of pollution, waste, noise and radiation. The EPA works closely with industry, the community and government to protect the unique natural environment while supporting economic growth and improving wellbeing. The EPA is responsible for the administration of the _Environment Protection Act 1993_ (EP Act), the _Single-Use and Other Plastic Products (Waste Avoidance) Act 2020_ (SUP Act) and the _Radiation Protection and Control Act 2021_ (RPC Act) and also exercises responsibilities under other South Australian planning and environmental legislation.

**About the Role**
The Principal Adviser Regulatory Strategy and Intelligence is accountable to the Manager Circular Economy and Waste for the management of staff and EPA priorities to assist South Australia’s transition to a circular economy. The key functions of the Circular Economy and Waste Branch are Waste Regulation, Regulatory Strategy and Waste Policy, Waste Levy and Container Deposit Scheme and Product Stewardship.

Work may include:
1. Coordination of the awareness of national and jurisdictional circular economy, waste and resource recovery strategies and programs,
2. Lead, develop and implement waste and resource recovery policies and programs in accordance with the EPA strategic directions and priorities,
3. Coordination of reform projects to support the EPA in transitioning South Australia to a circular economy, and
4. Coordinating waste levy auditing of authorised activities and ensuring waste levy compliance activities are undertaken in accordance with the _Environment Protection Act 1993_.

**Desirable Qualifications or Experience**
Relevant tertiary or post graduate qualifications such as environmental management or law.

**Special Conditions**:

- As an Authorised Officer under the
_Environment Protection Act 1993_, this role has been designated as a Position of Trust pursuant to the standards required in the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework. A current National Police Clearance is essential.
- The incumbent will occasionally be required to travel to sites in country areas and interstate.
- The incumbent may be required to work out of hours and as the need arises.
- A current driver’s licence is essential.

**Remuneration**
ASO8 ($117,554 - $121,992 per annum) + 10.5% super to your choice of superfund.

**Contract**
Ongoing and full time (37.5 hours per week).
