An exciting opportunity exists to join **Wollongong Hospital** as a **Social Worker Level 3** in the **Oncology Inpatient Department** on a **temporary full-time** basis until 2 July 2023, with the possibility of an extension. **Part-time job share will be considered**.

**COVID-19 Vaccination Compliance**

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed an up-to-date course of a COVID-19 vaccine (3 doses for Category A roles, 2 doses for Category B roles) which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Please provide proof of vaccination if available.

**What you'll be doing**

Provide specialist Social Work service to patients, clients, consumers and their family/carers to ensure the provision of optimal health outcomes consistent with ISLHD policies, procedures, standards, relevant legislation, and the NSW Health Code of Conduct. This position provides the above Social Work service to oncology & haematology inpatients at Wollongong Hospital.

**Where you’ll be working**

Wollongong Hospital is the Illawarra and Shoalhaven’s major referral and teaching hospital and has bed base of more than 500. The campus, which incorporates the Illawarra Regional Cancer Care Centre, provides a comprehensive range of inpatient, outpatient and community-based services.

**Selection Criteria**
- Extensive post graduate clinical experience in psychosocial assessment, care planning, individual and family counselling, grief and loss and bereavement counselling and group work
- Extensive specialist psycho-social knowledge relating to people with a life threatening illness (such as cancer) and adjustment to diagnosis issues, as well as loss and grief theory and practice
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in complex situations across a range of settings
- Demonstrated high level ability to communicate clearly and succinctly both verbally and in writing, and proven ability to work effectively and collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team. Demonstrated competence in the use of electronic information systems
- Demonstrated ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement activities and service evaluation processes with other staff and demonstrated capacity to provide clinical supervision.
- Current NSW Drivers Licence, with the ability to travel in accordance with position responsibilities
