A little bit about us

The Office for the Arts leads the Department’s engagement on arts and culture and provides high quality strategic advice to the Minister on creative sector policy and program issues. The Division also administers programs that support Australia’s creative sector and stimulate participation in Australia’s cultural life; and foster employment and growth across the creative sectors.

The Creative Industries Branch is responsible for a range of programs and policies that support the arts sector. This includes support to the music, literature and the visual arts particularly through the Indigenous Visual Arts Industry Support Program. The Creative Industries Branch is also responsible for ArtBank.

The opportunity we have available

The literature team is responsible for a range of policy and programs that support the growth and development of Australian literature. The Executive Level 1 (EL1) position available is responsible for literature programs and policies, specially the smooth administration of the Australian Lending Right Schemes.

The position will be responsible for implementing the commitment by the Australian Government to modernised the Lending Right Schemes, as part of the new National Cultural Policy,
_Revive: a place for every story, a story for every place_, as announced on 30 January 2023.

What will you do?

The position is responsible for literature programs and policies, with a focus on the management of the Australian Public and Educational Lending Right Schemes. As an EL1, in accordance with the APS Values and Code of Conduct, you will be required to perform duties including but not limited to:
- leading a sub-team with responsibility for management of a large rites based program,-
- lead on policy development, policy proposals and research, including data analysis of the program;-
- liaising internally across the Office for the Arts and the department;-
- developing professional relationships and liaising with external stakeholders, such as the general public, portfolio agencies, creative sector business, peak bodies and other government agencies at all levels of government;-
- other tasks as required including coordination tasks, brief preparation and responding to correspondence.What else can we offer?
