**About the role**

The Deputy Director is a senior executive role responsible for the strategic development, operationalisation and implementation of the initiatives under the Sydney Innovation Precinct for Health Education and Research (SIPfHER or the ‘Sydney Innovation Precinct’), Sydney Research and the Sydney Biomedical Accelerator. Working closely with the Executive Director of SIPfHER and Sydney Research, the SLHD Executive Leadership Team, Clinicians, Researchers, the University Sydney (USyd) and the Chief Executive. The Deputy Director jointly leads the development and implementation of innovative strategies to support the strategic priorities of SIPfHER, Sydney Research and Sydney Local Health District, including strengthening research, innovation and commercialisation capacity, capability and performance.

The role also acts as a knowledge broker and facilitates the development and strengthening of networks between the academic, scientific, engineering and health research communities, the higher education sector, government and industry through delivering a program of communication, education and partnership initiatives. It will work closely with teams across and within SLHD, USYD and our partnering organisations.

The successful applicant will have demonstrated strengths in high-level strategic coordination, stakeholder and project management. They will also provide strategic leadership and advice on the management of highly sensitive and complex research projects.

**We are seeking an individual who has***
- Relevant post-graduate qualifications or experience in a clinical, research or health management field.
- Demonstrated management and leadership experience in a complex organisation engaged in health and biomedical research and innovation to support the strategic priorities of the organisation.
- Demonstrated strong project management skills and proven experience in developing and implementing program initiatives and projects, including the ability to concurrently manage multiple programs of work, whilst meeting deadlines/targets and achieving desired outcomes.

**About working for SLHD**

**All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA).
