The Department of Transport Property Division provides land acquisition and associated services to infrastructure projects delivered by the Department and Major Transport Infrastructure Authority (MTIA)
About the role
The Acquisition Case Manager will manage a range of government land transactions (e.g. compulsory acquisitions, negotiation of leases/licences, purchases, temporary occupations, underground strata divestments and Planning and Environment Act claims) and associated compensation for our clients which include the Department's Groups, Westgate Tunnel Project, Level Crossing Removal Project, North East Link Project, Major Roads Project Victoria and Suburban Rail Loop Authority.
Key deliverables include
- Effective Delivery of Land and Compensation Negotiations - under supervision, has effectively settled assigned land transactions in accordance with the relevant legislation and government policies and procedures. This includes interaction with landowners, their representatives and other interested parties, preparing all statutory notices and other correspondence, preparing, recommending and obtaining internal and external approval to offers of compensation, negotiating and settling compensation cases, obtaining possession of land in accordance with project time frames and relevant legislation, recommend and support dispute resolution via VCAT or the Supreme Court, and updating systems/databases with key information.
- Advice - has provided considered advice in relation to government land transactions and broader government land processes in accordance with established policies and procedures and developed responses to problems relating to land transactions and compensation where defined policy and procedures do not exist.
- Stakeholder Management - has developed and maintained strong relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders resulting in high levels of trust and stakeholder satisfaction.
- Innovation and Continuous Improvement - has actively identified and actioned opportunities for improvements in divisional processes, policies, standards and operations to improve the effectiveness of the division.
