**The role**:
Gateways Support Services are excited to be seeking a
**Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner** to join our team in
** Geelong.**

As part of our amazing Positive Behaviour Support Team, you will deliver individualised strategies for people with disability.

Focusing on responsiveness and increase in the quality of life of our clients, you will aim for reducing the occurrence and impact of behaviours of concern and make everything to limit the use of restrictive practices.

**To be successful in this role you will need**:

- Tertiary qualification or currently studying either Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Diploma Community Services or have at least 5 years’ experience developing or overseeing behaviour supports as outlined in the PBS Capability Framework
- Clinical knowledge and expertise in providing functional behaviour assessments and demonstrate comprehensive behaviour support planning skills.
- Experience providing services to people and children with disability with complex behaviour needs.
- A working knowledge of the NDIS Commission Behaviour Support Rules and relevant disability legislation.
- A sound knowledge of best practice positive behaviour support, evidence-based approaches and trauma informed practice.
- Commitment to improving the quality of life of people with a disability and demonstrated passion to reduce restrictive intervention.
- A ‘can do’ attitude with the highest regard for others.
- Strong communication skills including effective interpersonal, conflict negotiation and resolution skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, train, mentor and support others to effectively deliver behaviour support.

Successful applicants will be required to supply a current NDIS Workers Screening Check and Working with Children Check for an employee. If you have lived outside of Australia for more than 12 months in the last 10 years, you will be required to supply an international police check from the country where you lived. Employment cannot commence until this check is received and assessed.

Shortlisted applicants will also be required to undertake the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission online Worker Orientation training module called ‘Quality, Safety and You’ prior to attending induction. This is a pre-employment requirement and if not completed, employment will not proceed.
