An exciting opportunity exists within Research Services for an experienced person with a strong background in research ethics administration and a strong interest in supporting researchers in their research-related professional endeavours. The position of Research Ethics Adviser will work closely with the Manager, Research Governance and a dedicated research ethics team to ensure that all research is conducted in alignment with the principles and guidelines for ethical conduct of research as per the National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research and the Australian Code for the Care and Use of Animals for Scientific Purposes. The appointment is ongoing, 0.6FTE which can be worked flexibly as required.

To be successful in this role you will need to be able to provide leadership to the Research Ethics Team, high quality support to the academic community, the Human Research Ethics Committee and Animal Ethics Committee together with the capability to provide expert advice on research ethics issues. You will also support the University in the development, implementation and delivery of good practice in training on research ethics processes and issues germane to research and teaching involving humans and the use of animals.

**The successful applicant will require**:
Qualifications and relevant experience in research ethics administration;
Comprehensive knowledge of legislative and regulatory governance relating to research ethics;
A proven ability to handle and maintain workplace confidentiality, exercise initiative, tact, sensitivity, respect, and sound judgment, especially in relation to dealing with sensitive, confidential and potentially controversial matters;
Managing and developing teams;
Good communication skills, both written and verbal;
Experience in the development and delivery of training and information sessions.

You will also demonstrate personal attributes that are congruent with the University’s values of Integrity, Respect, Rational Inquiry, Personal Excellence and Courage.

Benefits & Remuneration

This part time (0.6 FTE), ongoing position attracts remuneration of $93,378 - $104,628 pa (paid on a pro-rata basis) plus 17% University superannuation contribution.
