**SC4** Demonstrated exemplary interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to engage in collaborative relationships with students, colleagues, parents and the broader school community to support student learning, agency, wellbeing and engagement.
**SC5** Demonstrated ability to model behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values. Demonstrated ability to support others to reflect on their practice and facilitate school-based professional learning.
**Role**:
The Learning Specialist is an instructional leader with deep knowledge and expertise in high quality teaching and learning in delivering improved achievement, engagement and wellbeing for students in the primary years (P-6). The Learning Specialist will actively contribute to a School Improvement Team (SIT) to deliver effective planning, implementation, and evaluation of:
- A Primary Year’s improvement plan, which includes working as a strategic conduit between the Assistant Principal and Village Leaders
- Promoting strong partnerships between the Village Leaders and Classroom Teachers especially in the practice of building relationships that have foundations in Responsible Relationships and Restorative Justice
- Undertaking research pertinent to improvement strategies for students in the primary years, with the intent of undertaking agile improvement cycles
- Implementation of SWPBS strategies to promote positive transitions, engagement, wellbeing and improvement for students in the Primary Years
- Identification of student learning needs through regular and comprehensive data analysis, this may inform planning for intervention and extension practices.
**Responsibilities**:
**The Learning Specialist - Learning in Primary Years (Years P-6) will**:
- Demonstrate high level expertise in building student engagement and wellbeing through undertaking lesson observations
- Coordinate primary school student programs, which promote engagement i.e. clubs and SWPBS related activities and initiatives
- Build partnerships between students, parent and home with the intent of increasing student engagement in learning
- Work with the PLC planning team (as required) to ensure the effective implementation of PLC cycles at the College
- Working as a member of the Primary Years triad team with the assistant principal and village leader in developing consistency and whole school practice
- Assist with effective implementation of the PDP process
- Work with the College's leadership team to build collaborative practices, through effective implementation of Phoenix protocols which build collective efficacy
- Work with other Learning Specialists and Leading Teachers to establish a Community of Practice (COP) which focuses on building collective leader and teacher efficacy
- Identify improvement opportunities and undertake other tasks as delegated by the Principal.
**Key Targets**:
- Primary school learning outcomes as identified in the Schools Strategic Plan, Annual Implementation Plan and SIT Narrative.
- Teacher practice as identified through PLC and Staff Opinion survey.
- Student engagement and wellbeing as identified through student wellbeing survey, PAT wellbeing survey and The Resilience Project student survey.

Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.
