**Division Responsibilities**

The Office of Health Protection (OHP) is responsible for protecting the health of the

Australian community through effective national leadership and coordination and building

of appropriate capacity and capability to detect, prevent and respond to threats to public

health and safety.

**Branch Responsibilities**

The Environmental Health and Climate Change Branch advises on strategic regulatory policy

issues for health technologies related to radiation and therapeutic regulation requirements,

environmental health policy issues, responds to the recommendations from the National

Dust Disease Taskforce and supports the Department’s strategic approach to climate

change.

The Branch is made up of the Radiation and Therapeutics Policy Section, the Dust Disease

Policy and Projects Section, the Environmental Health Policy Section and the National

Health, Sustainability and Climate Unit.

**Section Responsibilities**

The National Health, Sustainability and Climate Unit (NHSC Unit) has recently been

established to drive a co-ordinated and strategic approach to build a climate-resilient health

system. The NHSC Unit will be leading the development of Australia’s first National Health

and Climate Strategy in collaboration with states and territories and relevant peak bodies to

reduce health system carbon emissions and transform health and aged care to respond to

the impacts of climate change, so that all Australians can continue to access high quality

care.

- Preparing draft policy documentation for review by senior staff.
- Drafting replies to policy queries.
- Communicating and engaging regularly with a variety of internal and external

stakeholders.
- Performing research and analysis and manipulating data to enable accurate

reporting.
- Assisting in the delivery of projects.
- Contributing to building a positive and productive workplace culture.***
