**A little bit about us**
The Cities and Suburbs Unit is delivering key policy work for the Government’s agenda for more liveable cities and suburbs. We are undertaking development of the National Urban Policy (NUP) - the Government’s vision for enhancing economic productivity, resilience and equity in Australia’s urban areas - and delivering regular State of the Cities reports to measure progress.
The NUP and State of the Cities reports will consider urban issues including population and migration, housing, transport and digital infrastructure, resilience and emissions reduction, and jobs and skills. Through the Branch’s regional and urban Precincts and Partnerships Programs we invest in partnerships which design and deliver transformational precincts, making our local communities great places to live and work.
We are also responsible for the development and management of the urban Precincts and Partnerships Program and the regional Precincts and Partnerships Program. These Programs aim to provide a strategic, nationally consistent mechanism for funding and coordinating projects that transform a place, to benefit communities in the urban and regions centres, as well as rural areas.

**What will you do?**
As an Assistant Director, you will be responsible for delivering tasks, with a high degree of autonomy, including:
- Research and analyse policy proposals, including providing technical advice on urban planning and/or urban economics issues.
- Support and develop staff.
- Draft briefs, correspondence and advice for Senior Executives and Ministers.
- Work across government to develop coordinated policy positions and advice for Senior Executives and Ministers.
- Schedule meetings, draft meeting briefs and notes.
- Procurement and contract management.
- Maintain databases and analyse data.
- Manage funding programs
- Develop and maintain risk management plans and governance frameworks.
- Develop communications products.
- Support Ministerial and advisory bodies.
