**About the role**:
Operating out of our Port Melbourne head office, this role is a part of our Fresh Meat team. Reporting to the Head of Commodities, the primary purpose of this position is to build and leverage relationships with meat suppliers, customers and internal stakeholders for the supply and sale of meat commodities.

**Please note this role includes regular site visits to our Castlemaine factory and domestic travel to meet with suppliers and customers.**

**Responsibilities**:

- Liaising with customers and suppliers about the purchase and sale of multispecies commodities.
- Analysing and making recommendations regarding strategic forward purchases based on cost movements and product availability.
- Working with the finance team to prepare Meat Procurement budgets and forecasts.
- Making strategic decisions and recommendations based on market intelligence of the domestic pork market.
- Building and nurturing strong customer and supplier relationships.
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders in Operations, Sales & Procurement.

**About you**:

- Business degree or certification (desirable)
- Proficient Microsoft Office skills (including excel)
- Experience in the meat industry (operations and meat trading)
- Commercial acumen & a clear understanding of how decisions impact bottom line financial results
- Stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
- Highly skilled in negotiating with external parties
- Ability to comprehend and execute strategic plans
- Analytical and problem-solving ability
