**Agency Purpose**
The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) is an independent statutory authority established by the Australian Government to maintain an impartial and independent electoral system for eligible voters through active electoral roll management, efficient delivery of polling services, and targeted education and public awareness programs.

**The Team**
The Audit & Assurance Team contributes to the delivery of high-quality audit and assurance services to support the AEC achieve efficient and effective outcomes.
The Parliamentary, Governance and Assurance Section brings together three key functions that support the agency to deliver service to the portfolio ministers and Parliament, govern with structure and integrity; and have confidence that business activities achieve objectives.
**The Opportunity**
The team administers the AEC Assurance Framework and provide policy advice on the AEC’s approach to assurance while managing internal and external activities. You will develop reports and briefing papers on administrative issues for presentation to AEC key governance and advisory committees.
The Assurance Officer assists with audit related business/process improvement initiatives and contribute to the provision of advice and assurance support to management on matters of governance and internal audit practice management. You will play a vital role in delivering a superior, independent, and unbiased audit and advisory services designed to protect and enhance the operations of the AEC.
To excel you’ll have:
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience working in a complex environment and successfully managing competing priorities and delivering quality results within time restraints.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively whilst responding to stakeholder needs and expectations across a geographically dispersed network and with stakeholders at all levels of seniority.
- Demonstrated personal integrity whilst achieving results within legislative and policy parameters.
Desirable
- Strong skills in Word, Excel and Adobe Pro.
- Knowledge of, or ability to quickly gain knowledge of Australian electoral law and practice.
- Knowledge of, or the ability to quickly gain knowledge of the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013 and related frameworks.
**Eligibility**
- AEC employees must be Australian citizens.
- Any person who is, and seen to be active in political affairs, and intends to publicly carry on this activity, may compromise the strict neutrality of the AEC and cannot be considered.
- Applicants are required to consent to, undergo, obtain and maintain a character clearance.
