**Junior Trading Analyst**

**The job**
As a Junior Trading Analyst at AE Capital, you will have a unique opportunity to work closely with Senior Traders in researching fundamental ideas that directly lead to the creation of new trading systems. You will also work with the trading operations team to assist in the running of those systems.

Day to day you will assist Senior Traders in researching new ideas. For example, this may involve analysing CFTC reports in combination with world trade data to support a hypothesis on how speculators and hedgers behave in soft commodity markets. Or reviewing central bank reports to gain a better understanding of how different central banks around the world rebalance their foreign reserves and the affects this may have on foreign exchange markets.

Ultimately, by working closely with Senior Traders you will, in time, become an expert on one or more asset classes and how to trade them.

On the operations side, you will not only ensure our systems are operating correctly, but also gain valuable knowledge in the mechanics of how electronic capital markets truly work. From understanding how electronic networks and market makers influence the price of a market on millisecond time scales, to the middle and back-office processes international investment banks use to ensure counterparty risk on a trade is controlled.

Ultimately, by working with one of the few Australian businesses that trades systematically on the world’s capital markets, you will gain a unique set of skills rarely on offer at other firms.

**About You**
You will have, or be nearing completion, a university qualification in finance, commerce, economics, or a related field.

This role does not require any financial industry experience, although some experience would be beneficial.
- Hard working, naturally curious with an interest in financial markets.
- Self-motivated with a high-level of initiative.
- Comfortable reading and absorbing large amounts of information with an ability to distil it into its core meaning and show critical thinking.
- Quick with numbers and able to spot anomalies.
- Adept at understanding charts and other technical information.
- Comfortable with computers and IT systems, perhaps even have some experience coding.
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to exercise good judgment and pro-active decision-making in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
