You’ll be part of a wider BB Tech team integrated into the Digital & Automated Credit Crew in Business Lending Domain. The crew is reimagining the way we offer credit to our business customers by focusing on certainty and speed. We do this through building next gen digital and automated credit solutions using BIAN and BaaS microservices architecture.
As an Engineering Manager - Data Chapter Lead, you’ll provide expert advice relating to technology, solution design and architecture, people leadership and hiring to drive excellence in technical delivery as per group engineering practices and standards. You will bring a perfect blend of people management, technical expertise and will be responsible for shaping the evolution of technical squad through contribution to the BB technology strategy, quarterly crew memo, prioritise backlog, define delivery roadmap, and determine which problems to invest in solving.

- Have the ability to build, lead, and inspire an engaged team of engineers while also fostering an engineering culture of excellence.
- Are data enthusiastic in providing the solutions that source data from various enterprise data platform into data lake, using technologies like Scala, Python, R, PySpark; transform and process the source data to produce data products, transform and egression to other data platforms like SQL Server, Oracle, Teradata and other cloud platforms.
- Are reliable in building data products or data assets from scratch, by integrating large sets of data derived from hundreds of internal and external sources.
- Demonstrated experience in creating libraries using functional languages (python, scala, R) and use them for the config - driven pipeline generation and delivering optimised enterprise-wide data ingestion, data integration and data pipeline solutions for Data Lake & warehouse platforms.
- Have experience and responsible for data security and data management.
- Can collaborate, co-create and contribute to existing Data Engineering practices in the team.
- Encourages risk-taking and constructive challenge while growing diverse and inclusive teams.
**Technical Skills**:
We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these (or equivalents) will set you up for success in this team.
- Experience in designing, building, and delivering enterprise-wide data ingestion, data integration and data pipeline solutions using Hadoop and AWS.
- Experience in building data solution in Hadoop platform, using Spark, MapReduce, Kafka and various ETL frameworks for distributed data storage and processing.
- Strong functional programming and scripting skills in Scala, Java, or Python.
- Proficient in SQL scripting, writing complex SQLs for building data pipelines.
- Experience in working in Agile teams, including working closely with internal business stakeholders.
- Experience in leading and mentoring data engineers, including ownership of internal business stakeholder relationships and working with consultants.
- Familiarity with data warehousing and data mart build experience in Teradata, Oracle or RDBMS system is a plus.
- Certification on AWS is a plus.
