**About the Role**:
The Database Administrator is a key and active participant of the Information Technology Services (ITS) team.

The database administrator will keep the database up and running smoothly 24/7. The goal is to provide seamless flow of information throughout the company, considering both backend data structure and fronted accessibility for end-users. The main purpose of the role is to maintain a successful database environment.

Reporting to the Production Support Team Leader, specific accountabilities will include implementing and maintaining the database system, establishing policies and procedures to the management, security, maintenance and use of the database systems.

As part of the ITS team you may be required to travel or transfer between your primary work location and other 000VIC sites to effectively carry out your duties.

Normal working hours are 38 hours per week between 7am and 7pm, Monday to Friday. You are required to participate on an on call roster and may be required to work reasonable overtime.

Day to day responsibilities include:

- Ensure all database instances meet or exceed operational availability standards.
- Install and configure database systems, operating systems, patches and upgrades.
- Ensure all databases are compliant with required security and integrity, availability, backup, restore and recovery systems.
- Maintain and incrementally enhance disaster recovery capabilities for databases.
- Provide support and continuous improvements to the in-house developed software tools

**About You**:
As a Database Administrator you will ideally have substantial experience working in a large organisation supporting a 24/7 environment.

Additionally, it is also anticipated you will bring:

- Extensive/Demonstrable experience with Oracle with Data Guard, MS SQL Server 2016-2019 and MS BizTalk2013
- Demonstrable experience related to backup and disaster recovery.
- Demonstrated ability and understanding in change management, continuous improvement and delivery implementation.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills with capacity to assess and resolve technical issues and initiate improvements
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders.
