Everyday Horizon Power supplies electricity to over 110,000 residents and 10,000 businesses in remote and regional Western Australia. Spanning a service area of 2.3 million square kilometres, we are responsible for the largest geographical catchment of any Australian power provider.

**About the role**

Reporting to the Sourcing & Categories Manager, the Category Lead will develop and implement Category strategies and contracts, as well as improve to the business’s Contract Management Framework.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

- Drive the development, ongoing management and implementation of Horizon Power’s Category Management Plan to support business objectives and deliver operational requirements.
- Lead the management of key category contracts, working with internal stakeholders to maximize the value of the category contracts for the business.
- Undertaking high level strategic negotiations, providing expert advice and resolving complex risks in contracts.
- Coordinate category contractor benchmarking against business objectives and reporting on category contractor performance.
- Assist in the improvements and roll-out of a ‘fit for purpose’ Contract Management Framework.
- Pro-actively monitor and manage key contractor relationships to ensure contractual issues are identified and addressed early.
- Act as formal Relationship Manager, on behalf of the Contracts and Categories Manager, with category contractors to establish collaborative working relationships and identify continuous improvement opportunities with those contractors, progressing such improvements where appropriate via negotiations and variations.
- Enable informed decision making by developing timely and relevant written submissions, briefs, and papers.
- Ongoing training of district personnel in contracts lifecycle management.
- Provide mentoring for other members of the Contracts and Categories Group.
- Drive the establishment of panel arrangements for key spend categories, and when beneficial to do so, develop robust out-sourced relationships with key aggregators (Western Power etc.).

In addition to sharing our passion, to be successful in this role you will have:

- Demonstrated experience and good discipline knowledge of procurement, category, contract and supplier relationship management across multiple categories.
- Demonstrated extensive experience in the planning, development and/or management of medium to high risk and complex contracts to meet the strategic and operational business needs within a complex organisation.
- Highly-developed written communication skills with the demonstrated ability to prepare and present complex procurement and technical documentation.
- Demonstrated analytical, research and conceptual skills with the ability to provide appropriate solutions to highly complex problems and issues.
- Demonstrated high level verbal, interpersonal, relationship management and negotiation skills with the ability to liaise, consult and negotiate effectively at senior levels in the public and private sectors.
- Highly-developed organisational skills with the ability to manage a large workload, exhibit accountability and initiative and achieve desired outcomes within required timeframes.
- Formal qualifications in an appropriate discipline - Law, Engineering, Finance or Commerce is required.
- Appropriate knowledge of the WA State Supply Commission policies and guidelines.
- WA Drivers Licence Class “C” or “C-A”.
- Previous experience in the Resources, Oil & Gas and/ or Utilities sectors is highly desirable.
