Workplace Health & Safety Advisor - Gold Coast

Your new opportunity:
This government entity, located in the Gold Coast region, is currently seeking a skilled and experienced Workplace Health & Safety Advisor. This is an exciting opportunity to join an organisation that seeks to become the world leaders in their industry. As the WH&S Advisor, you will be responsible for providing detailed technical, professional, and policy support related to complex WHS issues. Your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring a safe and secure work environment for all employees and stakeholders.

Your new responsibilities:

- Provide expert WHS advice and guidance to workers and managers across the organisation, ensuring compliance with legislation, policies, and procedures.
- Lead the implementation of the WHS Management System, including the development of policies, procedures, and learning materials.
- Manage incident responses, coordinating investigations and implementing effective corrective actions.
- Conduct and review hazard and risk assessments, maintaining the WHS risk register and hazard inspection schedule.
- Promote a safety culture within the organisation by sharing expertise, guiding colleagues, and developing WHS communications.
- Prepare briefs, reports, and meeting papers related to WHS management in the NDIA.
- Offer WHS advice on complex and sensitive staffing matters when required.

About you:

- Experience in creating, implementing, and managing comprehensive health and safety management systems.
- Proficiency in assessing, managing, and controlling psychosocial risks within a large organisation and developing programs to address these risks.
- Expertise in the development and management of psychosocial wellbeing programs.
- Ability to provide clear and effective WHS advice, ensuring compliance with legislation and promoting best practices.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, enabling effective communication with stakeholders at all levels, through both written and oral formats.
- A certificate-level qualification in work health and safety or an equivalent qualification.
- Experience in corporate-level WHS operations.
