**The Opportunity**

Following the promotion of the current incumbent and reporting to the Managing Director, Finance and Administration and based in Adelaide this role is responsible for driving the proactive implementation and continual improvement of Health, Safety, Environment & Sustainability (HSE&S) culture, strategy, plan, and performance across the Liebherr-Australia business units in Australia and New Zealand consisting of 6 Divisions and over 1300 employees. This role is an integral part of the business and will coach, mentor, and support our leaders to achieve a safety-first culture.

**Responsibilities include**:

- Develop, mentor, empower, lead, and hold to account a high-performing team that identifies and analyse trends, recommends, and drives continuous HSE&S improvement.
- Foster a proactive safety culture by encouraging stakeholder involvement, participation, and ownership in safety initiatives and programs across all levels.
- Implement the health and safety strategic programs and manage risk and compliance, ensuring the outcomes are achieved and embedded across the complete organisation.
- Establish and maintain effective communication channels to promote awareness of health, safety, and environmental matters and ensure timely dissemination of information.
- Monitor and analyse safety performance metrics, generate reports, and provide recommendations for improvement to the senior leadership team and board of management.
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices and incorporate relevant advancements into the organisation's safety management system.
- Manage relationships with regulatory agencies, external auditors, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance and foster positive working relationships.

Regular interstate and occasional international travel is a requirement for this role.

**About You**:

- Qualification in Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in a professional Health and Safety leadership capacity with demonstrated experience in large, complex, high-risk industries such as oil and gas, mining, utilities +
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills to effectively engage and influence employees at all levels of the organisation.
- Experience in conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, and audits.
- Ability to analyse data, identify trends, and provide meaningful insights and recommendations.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Strong knowledge of applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards.
