The Library and Community Services Branch is currently looking to recruit a Community and Cultural Development Manager to effectively lead and manage the Community and Cultural Development Team in the delivery of community development programs, activities and events in line with strategic priorities.

**About us**

Hornsby Shire is located on Sydney's upper north shore, approximately 25 kilometres north of the CBD. Known as the ‘Bushland Shire’, our local government area is characterised by bushland comprising national park, major waterways, natural reserves and rural landscape. The rest of the Shire combines urban, rural and open spaces.

**About the role**

In your new role you will manage staff and resources associated with Council’s community and cultural development activities, administration of grant funded programs and Council’s events program. Additionally this position manages teams and resources associated with new and emerging disciplines within the Library and Community Services Branch.

The main duties of the position relate to the following areas;
- Planning and Development
- Staff and Resource Management
- Administration including preparing reports and correspondence
- Provide leadership, motivation and professional advice to the team
- Allocate staffing and support resources in areas of priority
- Build and foster a positive environment that fosters productivity, innovation and community focused programs
- Continually promote, enhance and role model a positive constructive culture

**About you**

To be successful you'll have a good understanding of social and cultural planning, be familiar with the service sector and the challenges that it currently faces and have a strong community focus with the ability to build and maintain relationships to support strategic outcomes.

You will be Degree qualified in either Social Sciences, Social Planning, Social Work, Urban Sociology, Economic/Community Development or similar discipline or deemed equivalent experience. You will be a proactive, constructive and people-focused, strategic thinker. You will have well developed management, communication and consultation skills and will be competent in administering a variety of grant funded programs.
