JOB SUMMARY
Arch Financial Holdings Australia Pty Ltd and its subsidiaries (“Arch LMI”) are an APRA licensed provider of Lenders Mortgage Insurance (“LMI”). ALMI is a subsidiary of Arch Capital Group Ltd (“ACGL”); which is a S&P 500 global provider of insurance and reinsurance across a variety of product lines.
The Actuarial Analyst will be a key member of the Appointed Actuary function and will report to the Appointed Actuary. The Actuarial Analyst position is a full-time role located at Arch LMI Pty Ltd, Level 10, 155 Clarence Street, Sydney NSW 2000 Australia.
Essential RESPONSIBILITIES and ACCOUNTABILITIES
The Actuarial Analyst will support the Appointed Actuary function as follows:
1. Assisting the team to support the review of insurance liabilities.
2. Carrying out monitoring processes to support valuation decision-making.
3. Assisting in the preparation of regulatory reporting deliverables.
4. Supporting the Finance team to report insurance liabilities under Australian and US GAAP.
5. Preparation of financial projections.
6. Supporting capital management processes for the ICAAP.
7. Undertaking ad hoc investigations into specific areas or topics of interest as requested.
8. Assisting with the continued evolution of business processes.
9. Supporting Arch LMI’s Actuarial and Finance staff as required.
10. Working with Arch LMI’s lender customers as required.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Knowledge and Skills:
1. Working knowledge of actuarial valuation techniques and processes.
2. Strong technical and analytical skills.
3. Ability to deliver results under tight deadlines and competing objectives.
4. Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel skills. Experience with SAS, Snowflake, Python or R is desirable but not essential.
5. Strong written and verbal communication.
6. Robust inter-personal skills and willingness/ ability to function as member of a multi-disciplined, international team.
7. Orientation towards results, curiosity, integrity, and self-direction.
Education & Experience:
1. Must possess a relevant tertiary qualification and/or be working towards achieving Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia (or equivalent).
2. Must have 1+ years of prior experience working in general insurance or life insurance industries.
3. Experience in LMI and/or banking is preferred but not essential.
Working Conditions/Environment AND Physical Demands:
1. Normal office environment.
2. Some interstate or international travel may be required.
