**Position Title**:Graduate Clinical Coder

**Location**:Gosford

**This recruitment may be used to fill future positions via an eligibility list for permanent, full time, part time, temporary and casual positions.**

**Primary Purpose**:
To provide accurate and timely classification of inpatient episodes within a training/mentoring environment. This position reports to the District Clinical Coding Manager with mentoring by Clinical Coding Educators.

**What you'll be doing**
- Contribute to the efficient use of resources to ensure the delivery of a high quality coding service utilising Australian Coding Standards (ACS) and education materials.
- Participate in quality improvement by identifying any opportunities for documentation improvement and coding quality.
- Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills by liaising with key stakeholders including coders and coding management team.
- Collaborate with other graduate clinical coders on coding standards, advice and decisions.
- Participate in coding education sessions.
- Upon completion of each module within the graduate program, complete free coding on those modules with limited supervision.
- Continuously update coding knowledge; evaluate practice and engage in peer review to identify professional development opportunities to improve performance.

**About You**:

- Completion of a recognised ICD-10-AM/ACHI/ACS coding course.
- Experience using ICD-10-AM/ACHI/ACS and demonstrated experience with medical terminology.
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Well-developed organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
- Sound computer literacy and adept using the MS Office suite
