**About the Role**

Play a lead role in the Surface Water Modelling team, consisting of over 30 high performing modelling specialists responsible for informing the water planning and policy of NSW. To find out more see: Surface Water Modelling.

As the Lead Water Modeller, you will lead a team of Surface Water Modellers in the provision of water modelling analysis and interpretation using statistical, modelling and simulation tools and techniques to support water management policy development, evaluate the suitability of water management and planning proposals, and provide insight in future water sharing and resourcing.

**About You**

You will have experience in assessing the suitability of hydrologic and hydraulic model outputs for natural resource management requirements and the proven ability to evaluate complex scientific and hydrological investigations, data and research to determine validity and rigor in the context of water resource management.

As an expert in hydrological modelling, you have experience in providing advice to inform the assessment of opportunities for current and future water management, such as a major investment, metropolitan and regional water usage and interstate water trading.

You will have the demonstrated ability to deliver fit for purpose hydrologic models within the timelines available given the high level of demand for services for a range of hydrologic investigations relating to water resource management purposes.

With good verbal and written communication, you will have the ability to translate complex scientific and technical concepts into simplified language to enable clear and concise report development and implementation of analysis and represent the Department at a senior level in state and national forums to promote the latest understanding of best practice hydrological modelling techniques.

**Essential requirements**
- Degree in hydrology, hydraulic engineering, natural resources, relevant applied sciences or related discipline.
