**About the Team**
The Compliance Program Branch is responsible for providing the strategic and operational direction of the Agency’s compliance function to ensure payment integrity and facilitate a reduction of potential fraud and non-compliance to the Agency. The branch aim is to engage with Agency staff, partners, participants and providers to promote good compliance practice and early intervention when non-compliance is identified. We believe in positive engagement, early intervention, and mutual awareness and ownership towards compliance and good practice.

**About the Role**

The APS6 Compliance Officer Team Leader is accountable under limited direction to undertake complex work that is guided by legislation, policies, procedures, standards, methodologies and precedents. The position is a team leadership position within the Agency and will have delegated authority and responsibility to resolve issues and risks across a range of activities.

The role is required to provide leadership, control, planning, resource management, performance management and decision making for the Team Membership within the work area.

The APS6 Compliance Officer Team Leader is required to provide detailed technical, professional, policy, operational support and advice in relation to complex problems.

Where required, the role will coordinate and assist in the strategic planning, program and project management and policy development that support the Agency’s objectives to “build a world-leading National Scheme”. The position will have a considerable level of public contact in relation to complex, difficult or sensitive issues. It is required to liaise with a range of internal and external stakeholders in a representational role on behalf of the branch/division.

**Responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to**:

- Undertaking and managing complex and sensitive compliance reviews in accordance with Agency processes and legislation.
- Monitoring and reporting work output and quality against established performance standards through analysis and reporting to the Executive/s.
- Conducting informal discussions with staff and partners, participants, providers and third parties.
- Gathering evidence from a range of sources and preparing assessments and determinations.
- Preparing cases for referral to various business areas including the fraud intelligence team.
- Supporting staff in the development of capabilities in undertaking compliance activities. (NOTE: the key responsibilities of the role are based on current priorities and may change over time)

- Working in an open office environment (exposure to general workplace chatter)
- Working from home on occasion
- Working in a hot desk environment
- Significant periods of sitting at a counter or desk
- Operating a telephone
- Computer/screen based work
- Assistance animals may be in the work area
