We actively engage with our business areas to support their business needs and improve the level of information management and data maturity across the AEC.

**The Opportunity**

The Assistant Director, Spatial Data Analyst supports the Director of the Information Management and Business Intelligence section, as part of the Enterprise Strategy and Modernisation Branch. The role provides strategic advice, analysis, and a vision for the use of spatial data within the Business Intelligence team. The role also includes participation in section planning and aligning longer term plans with agency goals and objectives.

The role is responsible for undertaking very complex and/or sensitive work under broad direction, utilising expertise in spatial data analysis, governance, and data management.

To excel you’ll have:

- The ability to develop, implement, and maintain a geospatial data management governance, framework, strategy, policies, and systems, working across the agency to deliver effective outcomes for the organisation and ensuring the growth of the location data literacy and maturity levels.
- The ability to lead the team to establish a robust and sustainable geospatial platform with supporting processes to meet agency’s needs for business intelligence, reporting and mapping. You must be able to demonstrate a high-level of skills and capability managing and working with ESRI’s ArcGIS geospatial platform and suite of products.
- Confidence in engaging with business users to improve understanding of geospatial and location data management practices and use of reporting/mapping systems and tools across the organisation.
- Knowledge and experience in monitoring industry/whole of government best practice, processes, and protocols to provide sound advice on geospatial data management, reporting and mapping practices.
- The skills and knowledge to ensure that agreed standards and procedures are being followed and geospatial data risks are mitigated across the organisation.
- Demonstrated ability in ensuring that the agency’s business and end-user needs are communicated clearly to systems designers and product developers and align and identify integration points within the agency’s data management framework.
- Demonstrated skills and experience in leading and managing a team to ensure high quality outputs, including building team capability to maintain a high level of expertise, encouraging career development and inbuilt succession planning.
