The role offers a unique opportunity to influence and shape the future of education and drive excellence across our schools. With more than 20,000 students across our 58 schools, the Assistant Head of Secondary Schools will be an integral part of our leadership team.

The Assistant Head Secondary Schools provides instructional and operational leadership to secondary, and K-12 school principals across the Catholic Diocese of Maitland Newcastle. The Assistant Head Secondary Schools provides advice, mentoring and support to principals, to ensure the efficient and effective operation of schools and the maximisation of student outcomes.

The role supports the continued growth of existing principals, and plays a pivotal role in the recruitment, induction and support of new principals. The role provides advice in relation to school operations, escalates matters to the Head of Catholic Schools, and provides emergency school Principal coverage when required. This role is also a key contact and CSO representative in transition and growth programs relevant to secondary schools.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Advise, mentor, and support principals for efficient school operation and student success.
- Lead recruitment, induction, and ongoing support for new and established principals.
- Represent CSO in secondary and K-12 school transition and growth programs.
- Manage complex challenges and provide emergency principal coverage when needed.

**Key Experience**:

- Providing visionary leadership to create a positive school culture as a Secondary School Principal.
- Analysing data and trends to inform instructional decisions and improve outcomes.
- Collaborating with school leaders to ensure cohesive and effective school environments.
