Are you ready to embark on a journey that combines your passion for healthcare with cutting-edge laboratory work? Look no further The Curtin Medical School (CMS) is calling upon skilled Technical Officers to join our dynamic Laboratory Services Team.

**Your new role**

As a Technical Officer within our Laboratory Services Team, your primary mission is to support the Microbiology discipline. But that's not all - you'll also have the opportunity to lead, supervise, and inspire fellow team members. Your role is vital in maintaining the highest standards in our labs. Here's a glimpse of what you'll do:

- **Provide guidance and instruction**, ensuring the smooth operation of teaching laboratories.
- **Safety Champion**: Uphold the highest safety standards, conducting safety inductions, and ensuring the well-being of all staff and students.
- **Innovative Collaboration**: Collaborate with Technical Specialists to design and implement cutting-edge teaching classes in Microbiology.
- **Student Success**: Prepare and organise lab classes for undergraduates, ensuring a top-notch learning experience.
- **Lab Logistics**: Manage consumables, equipment, and documentation to keep our labs running like well-oiled machines.
- **Standard Procedures**: Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, contributing to a safe and efficient laboratory environment.
- **Lab Documentation**: Create documents, correspondence, and reports to support our operations.
- **Equipment Care**: Maintain and repair laboratory equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
- **Resource Management**: Advise on equipment and consumable purchases, keeping our resources up to date.
- **Process Improvement**: Seek opportunities for process enhancement and provide valuable insights to the team leader.

**Essential Criteria**
**To thrive in this role, you'll need**:

- **Education and Experience**:A relevant degree qualification and/or relevant microbiology experience in a tertiary teaching environment.
- **Communication**: Excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- **Problem-Solving**: Proven ability to tackle challenges in a laboratory setting.
- **Commitment**: A dedication to delivering a safe and exceptional learning experience for our students.
