Support people living on low to moderate incomes, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and those living with a disability.

**The Role**

Join our homelessness services team in achieving housing stability and improved social inclusion and connectedness for our customers. You will be responsible for creating options for customers who are experiencing difficulties in securing or maintaining appropriate private rental housing.

You will assist customers to identify and achieve appropriate housing outcomes by:

- Completing holistic assessments and assisting customers with information, advocacy and referrals
- Determining eligibility and provide access to private rental brokerage opportunities and linking customers to affordable housing in private rental market
- Providing financial assistance to eligible customers who wish to exit social or transitional housing
- Advocating for at risk tenancies and negotiate payments plans
- Creating and maintaining a community agencies database
- Working closely with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure all available resources are accessible to customers

We have a part time, fixed term role of 30 hours per week through until June 2025.

**About You**

You will demonstrate relevant experience in a similar role, including thorough understanding of the community and public housing sectors. In addition, you will have demonstrated understanding of issues affecting socially disadvantaged people, as well as awareness of and sensitivity to the needs of people who are in housing crisis and/or have special needs/disabilities.

**Essential Criteria**:

- A talent for building relationships.
- Excellent communication skills.
- A client centered approach, including provision of respectful, supportive, and confidential customer service.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently as part of a wider team.
- The ability to achieve work objectives.
- A current drivers licence.
- A commitment to the right of all people to affordable and sustainable housing.

Please note that satisfactory police check is required for all staff and those with client related responsibilities are required to provide a NDIS and Working with Children Check (WWCC).
