The Information Management and Technology Division guides the Departments' digital capability and is leading digital transformation for the Department including Victorian government schools. The Division architects, manages and supports the largest technology network in Victoria, supporting a user base of approximately 750,000 staff and students.
IMTD provides innovation and leadership in the transformation and management of the Department's digital capability through the implementation of solutions on the department's cloud environment (IaaS), enterprise cloud platforms (PaaS) and software (SaaS), using agile practices with a focus on user experience, security and integration.

About the opportunity
A fantastic ongoing opportunity is available for an Associate Security Analyst to join a small team within the IT Services Branch of the Information and Management Technology Division.
This role contributes to the overall success of the Security Operations function to protect and detect both department staff and schools.
The role provides security maintenance and incident response capability in a fast, high-volume service. Using enterprise security products, this role will actively utilise security platforms to provide insights and ongoing security response to maintain the department's security posture.
This role works closely across multi-disciplinary ICT functions and collaborates with the external agencies including the Victorian Government Cyber Incident Response Service (CIRS).
About you
- Monitor and analyse cyber security events with the use of department security platforms including Tenable, Burp, Splunk, Cylance, Windows Defender and other tools.
- Execute on security operational procedures including testing emergency procedures, running diagnostics, and performing assurance activities.
- Triage security events and incidents triggered within the department and across Victorian schools, detect anomalies, review IoCs and manage remediation actions.
- Undertake reporting of cyber security information to support cyber risks, threats and issues to incident control and stakeholders.
- Participate and contribute to post incident reviews to identify lessons learned and promote continuous improvement.
