High Risk Trainer and Assessor

Trainer & Assessor (Teacher/ Instructor/ Tutor)
**Scope of Role**:
The Trainer and Assessor will prepare and deliver safe, effective, high-quality training and assessment to students enrolled with the RTO, in accordance with the appropriate training package, and in line with the following:
- Australian Qualification Framework (AQF)
- The Standards for RTO’s 2015 (and subsequent versions/ releases)
- Relevant State and Federal rules, regulations, and applicable licensing requirements
- The RTO’s quality system and the business’s expectations
To deliver training and assessment services to key client groups, both on and off-site as required.
**Duties will include but are not limited to**:
1. Conduct risk assessment on training sites before training commences in accordance with the RTO’s policies and procedures
2. Plan training and assessment sessions to ensure the required resources are available to support delivery
3. Deliver and coordinate training in accordance with RTO and client requirements, using training methods that progressively develop knowledge and skills for learners
4. Deliver services that focus on the individual student in relation to identifying and meeting learners’ individual needs
5. Perform duties in an ethical and professional manner that supports an inclusive learning environment, free from discrimination and harassment
6. Create and supervise an environment that supports and encourages equitable treatment, and acceptable behaviours for all learners (and those contributing to learning and assessment activities)
7. Conduct assessments in accordance with principles of assessment, rules of evidence and the designated training & assessment strategy
8. Determine training gaps between desired and actual performance of students
9. Perform accurate administrative, recording, reporting and review tasks associated with all allocated training activities
10. Liaise with support staff to coordinate the flow of documentation and to ensure student records and operational data is kept accurate, up to date and confidential
11. Comply with the following contractual requirements (as required):
- WorkSafe Victoria (Licencing)
- VicRoads (Licencing)
- VET Funding Contracts (i.e. Skills First)
12. Contribute to the RTO’s systematic approach to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for improvement and acting responsively to implement agreed improvements
13. Participate in RTO assessment moderation and validation activities to promote fair and reliable assessment and to maintain the alignment of assessment activities and materials with industry expectations and training package requirements
14. Engage in Professional Development activities to maintain competence and industry currency, and record monthly via the Professional Development Log (PDL)
15. Complete Trainer Skills Matrix (TSM) prior to or within one calendar month of employment, and regularly review/ amend as required
16. Maintain equipment, training venues and training aids to ensure they are serviceable, clean, tidy, and safe for operation
17. Report non-compliance with legislation or RTO policies and procedures immediately to the Chief Training Officer (CTO), Branch Manager or Compliance Officer
18. Advise the RTO immediately following any changes or cancellations to any personal licences or accreditations
19. Travel may be required to deliver training offsite, or at our various regional locations
20. Other duties as directed
**Level of supervision and responsibility**:
- This role has direct supervision responsibilities for students under training/ assessment
- This position reports to the Chief Training Officer (CTO), and relevant Branch Manager
**Effect on Quality**:
This position has a direct impact on quality due to daily contact with clients & students
