**About the role**

Reporting to the Environment Manager, you will have a key role in contributing to Pacific National’s Environmental Management Framework. You will implement and provide expert advice, coaching and mentoring to operational leaders on environmental performance, regulatory requirements and strategy aligned initiatives.

Key responsibilities include:

- Identify environmental risks and compliance requirements.
- Maintain the environmental compliance and risk registers and risk control status.
- Implement, and maintain environmental systems, environmental monitoring, data collection and inspections (air, noise, waste, pollutants).
- Undertake system verification activities and participate in the PN audit and compliance assurance activities.
- Liaise with and report to the regulator and community stakeholders.
- Actively participate in environmental incident response when required and facilitate allocated investigations within the PN Investigation framework, standards and procedures.
- Participate in the development and delivery of environmental training materials.
- Update and maintain Pacific National’s contaminated land management register.

**About you**

To be successful in this role, you will have a proven track record of planning, executing and delivering on environment and sustainability outcomes within a complex national organisation. You will also possess the following skills, experience, and attributes:

- Tertiary qualifications in Science, Planning, Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 3-5 years' experience in-house or consulting to large, complex organisations.
- In depth knowledge of environmental systems within highly regulated industries such as rail haulage, logistics, manufacturing, energy or mining industries.
- Demonstrated experience in contaminated land and / or regulated waste management will be highly regarded.
- Demonstrated experience in delivering risk specific environmental management plans.
- Track record of driving improved environmental performance, ensuring alignment with business strategy.
- Proven ability in influencing and engaging key internal and external stakeholders including experience coaching and mentoring line leaders to deliver results and drive change.
