**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Galen Catholic College offers a 12 month traineeship providing support to teaching staff in the Sport/Physical
Education/Outdoor Education Team for the implementation and execution of the College’s PE, Sport and Outdoor
Ed programs throughout the year.
Responsibilities of the role will include assisting with physical education and outdoor education classes; as well as
assisting with sport. This would include supporting the planning and attendance of outdoor education excursions and
camps, planning and preparing for sports carnivals, assisting in practical classes and maintaining equipment and
resources used by these departments. The role includes working with students and staff in Physical Education and
Outdoor Education classes and supporting the Learning Area Leader: Health and Physical Education and the
Outdoor Education Leader. Applicants will need to be able to work both independently and as part of a team, be
mature and responsible, have good communication skills, a strong work ethic, show initiative and have a commitment
to the ethos of the College. The successful applicant would participate in an AFLSportsready certificate course as
part of the role.
Key Responsibilities (not exhaustive)
Key Responsibilities Providing support to students and staff within the PE and Outdoor Education
faculty areas
- Attending school camps and excursions as required
- Assisting with Physical Education & Outdoor Education classes
- Attend after school hours sporting events/meetings.
- Assist at various sporting events as directed, including marshalling,

timekeeping etc.
- Assist with the organisation of carnivals.
- Assist with various team sports i.e. assist coach, runner, water carrier, umpire,

team manager.
- Assist physical education staff during practical classes as required
- Ensuring the gymnasium and store rooms on campus are kept in a tidy

manner ready for all classes, school activities and sporting events
- Regular and thorough inspection of all equipment used by students and

teachers. Any damages reported and maintenance and/or ordering arranged.
- Any other duties as directed

**SALARY**

$21,500 - $30,000 plus 11% Superannuation
- National Training Wage Award

- This position is best suited to a recent secondary school leaver.
