**Position Overview**:
As a Sommelier at Baia The Italian, you will play a crucial role in enhancing our guests' experience by providing expert guidance on our extensive Italian wine selection. Your responsibilities will include assisting floor staff with wine sales, contributing to seamless service, and overseeing the overall wine service in the restaurant. You will report directly to the management team.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Wine Sales Assistance**:

- Offer knowledgeable recommendations to guests based on their preferences and the menu.
- Collaborate with the floor staff to upsell and promote Italian wines effectively.
- Provide detailed information about the characteristics, origins, and pairings of the wines on the menu.
- **Service Assistance**:

- Work closely with the floor staff to ensure a smooth and coordinated dining service.
- Assist in wine presentation, opening, and pouring at the table with finesse and professionalism.
- Address any customer inquiries or concerns related to the wine selection or food.
- **Customer Engagement**:

- Foster a welcoming atmosphere by engaging with guests and creating a memorable dining experience.
- Solicit and act on customer feedback to continually improve the restaurants service.

**Qualifications**:

- Proven experience as a Sommelier, preferably in a high-end restaurant with a focus on Italian wines.
- Extensive knowledge of Italian wines, regions, and varietals.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Certification from a recognized wine education program is a plus.

Expected hours: 25 - 40 per week

Licence/Certification:

- RSA for NSW (required)
