**ABOUT US**:
Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC) is a Queensland Statutory Authority established to regulate the building industry and ensure maintenance of proper building standards and remedies for defective building work.
QBCC also serves to educate, protect and support the community and the Industry via licensing and registers, education, dispute resolution and adjudication, and enforcing compliance.

**ABOUT YOUR ROLE**:
**The aim of this role is to**:

- Provide authoritative and specialist advice and compliance decisions on technical aspects of complex casework matters, building industry professional policy, legislation and practice to assist in the coordination of quality and appropriate services
- Coordinate the acquisition of technical evidence, including expert witness statements, compliance inspection reports, and building approval documentation, to support the preparation of briefs of evidence for offences committed under Part 4A of the Building Regulation 2006, the QBCC Act and related legislation
- Prepare technical reports and statements for disciplinary proceedings and give evidence before the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal and other Courts
- Provide high level advice on planning, suitability and options, the use of resources or systems within the project, and construction and maintenance practices and problems to ensure informed exercise of regulatory powers by relevant decision-makers

- Hold tertiary level qualifications in building surveying, and substantial experience in civil engineering, fire engineering, structural engineering, or architecture. (mandatory)
- Communicates clearly - confidently presents messages in a clear, concise and articulate manner. Focuses on key points and uses appropriate, unambiguous language. Selects the most appropriate medium for conveying information and structures written and oral communication to ensure clarity.
- Displays personal drive and integrity - Adopts a principled approach and adheres to public service values and Code of Conduct. Acts professionally at all times and operates within the boundaries of organisational processes and legal and public policy constraints. Operates as an effective representative of the organisation in internal forums.
- Achieves results - Reviews project performance and identifies opportunities for improvement. Makes effective use of individual and team capabilities and negotiates responsibility for work outcomes. Is responsive to changes in requirements.

Building Materials Specialist or Fire Safety Professional qualifications will be highly regarded.
