The Department leads the delivery of education and development services to children, young people and adults both directly through government schools and indirectly through the regulation and funding of early childhood services, non-government schools and training programs.

**The Koorie Education Coordinator is an identified role for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants only. The position is located in Southern Melbourne Area of South Eastern Victoria Region covering the LGAs of City of Greater Dandenong, City of Casey and Cardinia Shire. The Koorie Education Coordinator manages a small team of Koorie Engagement Support Officers who support Aboriginal families to access education and assist education services (kindergartens and government school) to be culturally inclusive, welcoming and focused on improving education outcomes for Aboriginal children and young people. As a member of a range of multidisciplinary teams, the Koorie Education Coordinator, supports Area and regional staff with the implementation of the Marrung Aboriginal Education Plan 2016-2026. The position suits applicants who have strong connections with their culture and with community and government agencies, well developed organisational skills, and good people management and team building skills.**

This position plays a key role in the coordination and provision of support to the regional Koorie Education workforce and multi-disciplinary Area teams within the Region. The occupant of the position will have a high level understanding of the current education and early childhood development reform agenda, particularly as it relates to Koorie children, young people and the broader Koorie community. The Koorie Education Coordinator will be an active member of the multidisciplinary Area Service Support Team and is required to develop strong relationships with the regional Manager, Koorie Education; schools, early years' service providers, central and local consultative groups, other community and government agencies and stakeholders.
