**Head of Major Works**:

- Location: Perth Office - CBD, WA, AU- 22 Feb 2024Western Power is looking for a dynamic and seasoned leader to oversee our newly established Major Works function.

The Head of Major Works will be responsible for managing and delivering major network construction and connection works, including developing resource capacity and reviewing and improving systems and process to support large infrastructure projects while prioritising safety, reliability and efficiency.

This permanent fulltime role will report to the Executive Manager of Asset Operations and will be based out of our Perth CBD office.

**About this role**

As the Head of Major Works you will be required to:

- Single point of accountability for the delivery of Major infrastructure construction works; safely, reliably and efficiently.
- To undertake, align and deliver on the Major Capital delivery value chain, driving excellence in works delivery governance, project management and strategic program management.
- Implementation of a clear annual capital work program that is resourced, scheduled, and allocated to service providers, requiring collaboration with our Energy Transformation & Sustainability Business Unit
- Develop and sustain human capital in technical and leadership.
- Accountable for ensuring that all available resources are organised toward the effective and efficient pursuit of achieving the required business outcomes,
- A role model for effective leadership principles and practises in accordance with Western Power Leadership Framework.
- Effectively manage talent through setting performance expectations, developing skills and ability and to actively recognise employees for their positive contribution.
- Responsible for assessing overall program and services performance against required business outcomes, stakeholder expectations and key performance indicator while taking corrective action where required to do so.
- Actively build and continuously improve a constructive working environment through promoting open communication and effective engagement with colleagues and stakeholders
- Support emergency events as required.

**About you**

We are seeking someone with experience and attributes that include:

- Tertiary qualification in Commerce, Business, Engineering, or related discipline or
- Extensive experience of the electricity industry with specific expertise in all operational aspects of electricity networks including major infrastructure construction.
- A minimum of 10+ years sound business experience leading a multi-channel business in complex commercial environment.
- A sound and proven operational business improvement knowledge within a complex environment including high safety risk operational areas.
- Proven, exceptional stakeholder management; building collaborative relationships with industry partners, internal support, and delivery partners.
- Extensive experience of program and project management and life-cycle process management.
- Extensive experience of planning, organising, and integrating resources, budget management, and work program planning, resource management, communication and quality assurance.
- Exceptional organisation and time management abilities to manage several priorities with strong business acumen.
- Strong technical leadership, influencing, communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to engage at all levels within the organisation including Board and Executive
- Demonstrated and broad experience across multiple industries with a commercial approach to deliver operational improvement outcomes that support business strategies.
