A rare opportunity exists for Public Affairs Manager role to join a newly formed team tasked with establishing the new Department of Government Services.
About us The Department of Government Services (DGS) was established on 1 January 2023 to improve everyone's experience of doing business and interacting with the Victorian government. We bring important day-to-day services together in one department to make things easy and seamless for Victorians and businesses. We are doing this by connecting and digitising our systems and platforms across state and local government as well as streamlining our corporate and procurement services.
About the role The Public Affairs Manager is responsible for leading all DPC media activities, including high-level complex and sensitive media issues. The role is responsible for the overall media and public affairs strategy and direction for DGS portfolio areas in consultation with stakeholders.

**About you To be considered for the role, you must be able to**:

- Manage, oversee and prepare all DGS public affairs activities, including high-level complex and sensitive media issues, media training, media monitoring, media releases, ministerial and executive event briefings, speeches and press kits.
- Initiate, lead and drive the development and implementation of department wide public affairs protocols and strategy for complex portfolio communications projects and initiatives across the department, utilising the portfolio's expert knowledge base.
- Provide authoritative and expert communications, engagement and media advice, leadership and strategic direction to the Chief Communications Officer, other departmental senior executives, and ministerial office staff on brand and reputational risks and issues management. Media engagement and new and changing communications priorities.
