Sydney, Australia NSW Government Full time

**Position Information**:
Established in 1933, Hammondville Public School continues our proud history of public education as part of the New South Wales Department of Education, designing learning to meet the needs of our 444 students. Set on large, leafy grounds 36.4km south-west of Sydney and 4.7 km from Liverpool., we offer a wide and varied curriculum and engage our community as partners in our learning. Approximately 12% of our students come from Defence Force families due to the school's close proximity to the Holsworthy Army Base. The school employs a Defence School Mentor (DSM) who provides social and emotional support to these students and their families. The student population is inclusive of 22% of students who have a language background other than English and an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population of 11. Teaching and learning practices at the school are reflective of the needs of our students and are continually evaluated for impact by our expert teaching team, who are discerning users of research and employ evidence-informed practice. As a result, all students across our school are engaged in quality, dynamic teaching and learning programs that challenge and support their needs as learners and as children.

This year, we embark on a transformative journey together within our newly established Support Unit, Ngarala. Comprising of three dedicated classes, Ngarala holds a special place in our hearts, as it symbolises our commitment to providing an inclusive and nurturing environment for students with autism.

The name Ngarala, derived from the Dharug language, carries profound significance as it translates to 'Learning Together.' This phrase encapsulates the very essence of our mission. We believe that the power of learning together is a fundamental element in realizing our vision for the support classes. Our aim is to foster an environment where every child can flourish, where they are not just recipients of knowledge but active participants in their educational journey.

In Ngarala, we embrace the diversity of our students and recognise the unique strengths and talents each child brings to our community. Our commitment is to create an atmosphere where every student feels valued, respected, and understood. Through collaboration and shared learning experiences, we aim to empower our children to become active and confident global citizens.

Our vision extends beyond academic achievement; we are dedicated to nurturing self-belief and determination in each student. We want our children to embrace their individuality, celebrate their successes, and face challenges with perseverance to create the lives they aspire to lead.
