Operations Superintendent

**About the role**:
The Rod Mill Production Superintendent is accountable for managing the production and quality operations to sustainably improve performance of OHS&E, the quality of end-products, operating costs and process efficiencies and enable flexible production capability to meet the market requirements.

As the Production Superintendent, you are a key member of the Rolling Mills Lead Team, second as Manager for the Rolling Mills and are responsible for addressing all critical Rod Mill issues in a timely manner, ensuring a sustainable business capable of meeting our promise to customers.

Key responsibilities include:

- Provide clear leadership direction and actively implement the associated Laverton Rod Mill business plan tasks.
- Reinforce effective working relations and maintain an environment where employees achieve the business objectives.
- Assist in the development of capital expenditure plans to improve long-term asset condition and reduce operation security risks.
- Perform Observations and Critical Risk Inspections on Critical Risk elements in the Rod Mill to maintain standards and positively reinforce behaviours and ensure compliance to these elements.
- Ensure personnel are organised for training against routinely updated, documented training plan.
- Perform a skills gap analyses to determine training needs, build capability and promote team work
- Contribute to the development, communication and deployment of the Laverton Rod Mill business plan and strategic initiatives.
- Model the expected behaviours to support Infrabuild Steel’s core values of Safety and Customer.

**About your experience**:
To succeed in this position, you will ideally have:

- Extensive experience managing complex Rolling Mill’s production activities including Section Mills and High-Speed Rod Mills
- Demonstrated experience leading a manufacturing operation with critical safety & customer system requirements.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders (GM’s, Customers, Government Agencies and Service Providers).
- Previous experience with documentation & presentation of key messages to broad spectrum of organisational levels (employees through to GM) including concise written reports.
- Past International experience in Rolling Mill operations with clear understanding of what ‘World’s Best’ is.
- An understanding of L&D systems, ISO9001, ISO14001, Modern maintenance management, Capital management
- An understanding of the legislative safety requirements.
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering
