**Role**:
Leading teachers will be highly skilled classroom practitioners and undertake leadership and management roles commensurate with their salary range. The role of leading teachers is to improve the skill, knowledge and performance of the teaching workforce in a school or group of schools and to improve the curriculum program of a school. Typically, leading teachers are responsible for coordinating a number of staff to achieve improvements in teaching and learning which may involve the coordination and professional support of colleagues through modelling, collaborating and coaching and using processes that develop knowledge, practice and professional engagement in others. Leading teachers are expected to lead and manage a significant area or function within the school with a high degree of independence to ensure the effective development, provision and evaluation of the school's education program. Leading teachers will be expected to make a significant contribution to policy development relating to teaching and learning in the school. A leading teacher has a direct impact and influence on the achievement of the school goals. Leading teachers are usually responsible for the implementation of one or more priorities contained in the school strategic plan.

Specifically Leading Teachers at NBC will be a member of the Campus and College leadership team. Learning Community Leaders will be tasked with supporting Campus staff to implement high quality and evidenced based teaching and learning into their classroom.

**Responsibilities**:
Leading Teachers at NBC may perform the following functions as part of their role:

- Work to lead and maintain an orderly learning environment - particularly with regard to a specific campus learning community
- Lead and manage the implementation of whole school improvement initiatives related to the school strategic plan and school priorities
- Work with the Principal Class Team to assist with the development of individual and /or team performance and development plans for staff
- Work with the Principal Class Team to lead data curation and analysis for the improvement of student outcomes
- Lead a PLC whose purpose is to improve student engagement and outcomes, delivering high challenge, engaging and stimulating curriculum
- Lead and manage staff performance and development
- Manage whole school curriculum delivery and standards thereof
- Lead the adherence to relevant DofE or VCAA policies
- Work with Education Support staff relevant to the Stage of Learning to ensure the best outcomes for all students. Such staff may include Student wellbeing Coordinators, Inclusion Support Coordinators and Careers and Pathways Coordinator
- Support Classroom teachers to manage issues related to student behaviour and engagement
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding College expectations of student behaviour
- Ensure Individual Education Plans and Behaviour Management Plans are implemented and updated as required
- Manage student transition and promotion both within the sub-school and between sub-schools and take a proactive role in managing pathways for all students in the Sub School
- Support the development of consistent, rigorous and dynamic reporting and assessment processes across specific Stages of Learning
- Coordinate and collaborate with Cross Campus Leading Teachers to ensure consistency
